Notice how comics evolved? When I started collecting them, they cost around 30 bucks a piece and classic pa yung mga drawing... Before the paper they used was so brittle and thin that’s why you have to be very careful so as not to affect the grading. Pati yung colors… dati parang archie comics ang kulay (hey I’ve nothing against archie comics okay ) ngayon hanep! iba na talaga pag digital. Given all of these, what do u guys think is better? If u ask me, mas ok yung mga luma kasi ang sarap amuyin ng papel pag binuksan mo yung plastic nya. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yup... I remember my very first comic: it's PEter Porker: The Spectacular SpiderHam (P40) a parody of SpiderMan - tapos Avengers... everything has evolved nga... papers, colors, gimmicks... and yuck... prices. I don't know, pero comics were easier to collect back then (1st year highschool pa ako) - wala naman kasi ako ng thoughts of reselling them and they're more of reference and reading materials since I'm an aspiring artist back then (pero ngayon full-pledged na, not a comics illustrator pero more of a graphic designer/illustrator/web-artist/art director). The colors were not based on color-separation theory, kaya if you notice, there are dots on the flesh tones. A shame na hindi ko pa alam ang law of placing your comics on plastic and board... oh well, memories na lang.
The first time I placed my comics on plastic was when I bought my first issues of X-Force and X-Men... pero due to the brittleness of the paper, naninilaw na at brittled.
Konti na lang kino-collect ko... usually stuff done by Chris Bachalo, Joe Madureira, Ashley Wood, DaveMCKean- my collection now is focused on Art Books whose quality is higher and easier to preserve.
In my opinion - mas ok ngayon yung comics, lalo na the ones with glossy and coated papers, some of the new Marvel comics are still using those ordinary book papers. Pero when I remember those old comics - memories rush in where buying it is not for collecting then reselling purposes, but the pleasure of reading it, then sharing that experience with someone.

You're absolutely correct! Before i buy comics then i let my friends borrow, and borrow from them as well. When we started collecting for preservation and investment medyo nagka-damutan na kami. Hey dude, are u from don bosco mandaluyong in high school? If yes, what batch?

Naging maganda ang comics nung huminto ako mag-collect!!! Argggh!!! Dati ang daming backboards and acid free, ngayon laging out of stock!!!
Kainis ang years 93-95 (or was it 94-96?) dito pagdating sa comic collection.
Schwabe_man, kunin ko na X-Men 1 and 3 mo. TY. ;D
